DO YOU WANT TO ADOPT A JAGUAR?

This magnificent jaguar, Pedro Bello, lives at the Pilpintuwasi (Butterfly) Farm. Thanks to Ms Roxie Walker, an archeologist and animal lover, the almost 4 year old jaguar has got a comfortable cage in a natural environment, and visiting the Butterfly Farm (and Wild Animal Rescue Center) you'll see how strong and healthy Pedro Bello is. As Gudrun says, "If we have to keep a wild animal in captivity we at least have to make it as happy as possible"... and that means for Pedro to get 3-4 kgs of meat every day. Wild jaguars feed on almost any mammals, reptiles, birds and fishes to get a minimum of 40% red meat in their diet. For Pilpintuwasi, just to feed this Jaguar means an expense of $250-300 dollars a month, which Gudrun covers with her salary teaching at the university of Iquitos (UNAP)
She obviously doesn't mind, but as both Gudrun and her partner say, "If somebody helped to finance Pedro's food, Pilpintuwasi would be able to rescue and maintain quite a few more animals, which now have to be rejected because of the lack of financial support. The government just leaves confiscated animals at the farm, but it doesn't give any money for food, cages or veterinarian care." If YOU want to help - please visit or contact Pilpintuwasi (pilpintuwasi@yahoo.es) The farm would publish any donation on its website, www.amazonanimalorphanage.org or, if you decide to adopt the Jaguar, you'll get a plaque with your name on Pedro's cage!
