For more than 2 years the 2nd floor of Gustav Eifel’s famous Iron House on the Plaza de Armas in Iquitos, Peru, has been used as a wharehouse for a pharmacy company, only Eifel’s ghost walked the 130 year old wooden floor. Now at last the public can see the inside of this historical and magnificent building, probably one of the most famous buildings in Peru. Paula and Cleve Durden always had the dream to have the best restaurant in Iquitos and now they have it. At a cost of over $50,000 Paula and Cleve have restored the building to its original state making it one of the most sought after dining places in Iquitos. Offering International, National and Local Dishes, including succulent steaks, fresh fish from the Amazon, sea food and vegetarian dishes. There is also an economical daily menu as well as A la Carte dishes. The restaurant is big enough to accommodate groups of up to 120 people so it is the ideal place for parties and banquets. Cleve is installing a big screen T.V. for sports lovers and a dart board, "...the pool table is coming very soon...", Cleve says. Paula and Cleve were the owners of “El Gringo Bar” for more than 4 years, they now welcome old and new friends to the most magnificent restaurant in Iquitos, "The Amazon Café” . |
