10 days in the upper Amazon with the some of the finest curanderos:
During this time, you will have the opportunity to experience what we
lovingly call, "Grace and Madness", with at least three different
curanderos (shamans). The tour begins upon arrival into Iquitos via
your flight from Lima. The first evening is a group dinner in this city.
The following morning we travel by speedboat upriver one and a half hour
to a jungle lodge specifically built for ceremonial purposes:
A two story Maloca with skylights.
This night is for orientation to the medicine and the jungle.
Lodging is in private two-story cabins, each with a balcony that
overlooks the pristine Rio Tamshiyacu - a beautiful tributary of
the Amazon River, loaded with dolphins. This is our base camp.
From here we tour with a collectivo (bus) boat,
"Beyond the Rio Tigre", visiting other curanderos and partaking
in their healing sessions with other local Jivaro indigenous.
We will be visiting their villages, living as they do and participating
in their ceremonies. These ceremonies will be run exactly as they have
been for centuries. They will not be sessions that are arranged for
"ayahuasca tourism". Therefore, we must stress that you enter
"Beyond The Rio Tigre" with the knowledge that you are a part of the
whole and not the center of the universe.
Day 1 - Arrival in Iquitos and group dinner.
Lodging is in a local hostal of your choice.

Naturalist, "Richard Fowler".
