Peter Schnieder's reformatted Amazon Rainforest Lodge
Meet Peter E. Schneider with his history of innovative projects. The latest is the Amazon Rainforest Lodge which Peter is transforming into a family-friendly Jungle Resort with a sustainable resource base. Not only can parents enjoy a jungle experience, but they can also teach children some important principles of sustainable development through low impact, yet luxurious living.

A few years back, Peterīs Amazon Rainforest Lodge was like many others perched on the banks of Amazon River tributaries. Tourist would come, enjoy walking the jungle, catching small piranahas and co-mingling with the Boras while taking lots of pictures. Visitor could return home and truthfully tell about an Amazon Jungle experience. Then, in two or three years, Ayahuasca-seeking tourists descended on Iquitos, and Ayahuasca camps appeared on seemingly every bend in the river. Even some established resorts hired Shamans and their nights filled with chants, trance-induced songs, and the groans of retching supplicants. Wanting none of this, Peter moved in the other direction.

Nowadays, the Amazon Rain Forest Lodge is a family friendy resort with a sustainable resource base.  Family-friendly means no drugs - although a nip of gin and tonic - is certainly permitted, no nude bathing in the clean water pool, and lights out when it gets late enough. Missionaries looking for a good place to bring visitors from the North will find it delightful. And they will eat home grown foods right from the lodge's gardens.

Looking to long run sustainability, Peter built five lakes on his 134 hectare spread. Each lake has it's own character. One is filled with tasty, fun to catch Piranhas, another has a Monkey reserve in the middle. One is filled with the ferocious Peacock Bass, and another is stocked with a fish so sought after, and so hard to find, that I'm not going to tell you about it until I catch and release one. Maybe you can catch him again.

The Rainforest Lodge Maintains Good Relations With Itīs Bora Neighbors.

To Generate Employment for Neighboring Natives, Peter Built His Lakes Using Mostly Hand Labor.

One Lake is Stocked With Tasty Piranhas.

This May Be the Only Cut Out Photo Shoot in the Entire Amazon! What a Hit With Traditional Tourists.
